Where is the infrastructure that North Western Sydney is not only crying out for, but entitled to? For years we have been promised some form of railway, better roads and improved public transport but where is it?
Toll roads have been built to skirt around the area, but do not link up, leaving thousands of cars lined up on suburban roads, to get in and out of key business and residential centres. Is it no wonder so many of us Hillssiders live AND work in the Hills?
And what is with the rebate given to motorists in the South West of Sydney? How is that a fair and equitable use of NSW taxpayer dollars. If the rebate applies to one part of Sydney, it should apply to ALL parts of Sydney.
If these questions bug you as much as they bug me, if you feel as ripped off as I do about the "ghost train", if you are tired of having every meeting with an "out of area visitor" run late due to traffic issues and if you are questioning the inequitable handling of NSW government revenues, then please join us at a briefing about the NSW Upper House Inquiry that a group of other local stakeholders have successfully managed to secure. Find out about the history of the call for the Inquiry, hear the "real facts" about what is going on in Macquarie Street, learn about our priorities and find out how you can put forward a submission to the Inquiry.
RSVP's are essential through the Chamber's website. Date 8th October, 7am. Breakfast will be served and as such there is a small fee. Visit http://www.sydneyhillsbusiness.com.au/ to find out more.
