quality - a definition

many folks worry about the definition of quality but in it's simplest form;

quality is 'fit for purpose'

it is not a grading system, a product or service is either fit or it is not. that's why a leather brief case and a brown paper bag are BOTH quality products. now the definition of purpose, well that's a whole different debate best left for those more expert.
