4 Ways to Get 'Un Stuck' and get the results you want

In business as in life there are times when we all feel a little (or a lot) stuck. It's a common challenge that we all face.

In my case as a Small Business owner I can feel stuck when I look at all the things I need to do. I start to wonder where on earth do I start, which can lead to more thinking or dabbling by doing a bit of this and a bit of that or simply doing nothing at all. Meanwhile time keeps marching by. None of these, I think you would agree, are effective strategies to get 'Un Stuck'.

So, what are some effective strategies to get 'Un Stuck'? Here are four (4) things that I use. You can do any or all of these. There is a solution to every problem. The key is to do something, and if that doesn't work, then do something else until you find what works for you.

1. Tilt your head back and look to the skies. I know, sounds a bit 'woo woo' but the feeling that is attached to being stuck is overwhelm and sometimes anxiety. Tilting your head back and looking to the skies allows you to disassociate with that feeling clearing your mind to re focus on what needs to be done. Try it, you might just be surprised.

2. Stop and think about what else you can do. That might sound a little like procrastination but it's not. The difference is that procrastination is putting things off indefinitely. Here the idea is to remove yourself from feeling stuck and doing something else. The mere act of doing something else keeps you moving forward and takes your focus off being 'stuck'. Often times doing this will lead to an idea solving your other issue.

3. Break it down. Look at what it is you are stuck on e.g. Generating New Business. What are some steps you can take that will result in Generating New Business - join and RPT? Cold calling? Email Marketing? etc. and for each of those you decide will move you toward the outcome you want, ask, what are the steps you need to take? Soon you'll find you have some very manageable and achievable steps to move you forward.

4. Reframe it. Sometimes we are so caught up and close to the issue that we can't see a way forward. Take a step back and look at it from a different perspective, ask yourself 'How is this a problem for me now?' or talk with someone else that's not close to it.

Remember that you have all the resources you need to bring about change and success.

"When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better." ~ Unknown
